Southwest Ohio DNA Interest Group Updates

At the last meeting of SWOHDNA in December 2017, Kelli Bergheimer of the Central Ohio DNA Interest Group, returned to discuss "Using Tools to Organize Your DNA Results." It has now been recorded and uploaded to our website. Kelli also created a document to accompany this presentation that describes step-by-step how to create an excel spreadsheet that can be used in conjunction with the presentation.

Our next meeting is scheduled for April 10th, 7:00 pm at the MidPointe Library. Information about the library, located just off I-75 in West Chester, can be found at this link. At this meeting, we will discuss the program DNAGedcom. If you are on the mailing list for The Southwest Ohio DNA Interest Group, you will receive additional information in advance of the meeting. Last Chance to Register for Genealogy Courses Offered in January and February

Time is running out to preregister for two education series being offered in January and February. Come warm your hands over the computer keyboard as you learn tips and techniques for effective research in the Genealogy Foundations Series or master land research with the Hands on with Land (HOWL) Series.

Hands on with Land (HOWL) Series, Sunday Afternoons in January
HOWL is now full. If you would like to attend and can use your own laptop, please register. Space is limited and preregistration is required. Register online using the form at https://goo.gl/mNZ3ib. All classes are held on Sundays at PLCH Main Library in the 3^rd floor computer lab. HOWL gives participants the opportunity to learn about land records while researching their own ancestors. Activities include a mix of personal research and instructional examples. For best results, plan on attending all sessions.



Genealogy Foundations Series in January and February

Genealogy Foundations is now full. If you would like to attend and can use your own laptop, please register. A couple of additional people can be accommodated this way. Foundations is full of tips and techniques to improve your genealogical research and make the most of core genealogical sources. Participants work on their own family in these hands-on sessions. Key resources for 19th and 20th century research will be covered: newspapers, census, published sources, and vital records.
