Two Genealogy TV Programs Scheduled for 2012

Who Do You Think You Are? The new series of this popular television show will start February 3, 2012. Marisa Tomei, Martin Sheen and Blair Underwood will be some of the featured actors. For complete details, click on the series link at NBC.com.

Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jrwill premiere Sunday, March 25 on PBS channels at 8 pm. The ten-part series delves into the genealogy and genetics of famous Americans, combining history and science in an exploration of race, family, and identity in today's America. Professor Gates shakes loose captivating stories and surprises in the family trees of Kevin Bacon, Robert Downey, Jr., Branford Marsalis, John Legend, Martha Stewart, Barbara Walters and Rick Warren, among many others.

Both series have generated interest in genealogy among the public.  Our society can build on this interest by sharing tools and techniques to research and document a family history.

  1. Oh, hurray! I love "Who Do You Think You Are" and thought it had been cancelled. Would love to see all the great ones on the original British version though.
